The state possesses vast powers and in the U.S. right now, in conservative run states, elected officials are way too eager to use their offices to censor speech they don't like, which is what Orwell feared.

Dahl's business partners and family are making tactical financial decisions about his empire, because they want to make more money and they will. Now, you may not like that there are these bastard editions floating around out there, I get that. Don't buy one.

You should rail against "Classic's Illustrated," too. They boiled down Ivanhoe into, like, 10 comic books pages! Then, maybe, demand theaters who edit down Shakespeare because his plays are too damn long and more people will pay to sit through a two hour Hour vs. a three hour one, be shut down. But I'd pay to read versions of Faulkner's novels with more periods in them. The primary feature of free market capitalism is choice.
