I never watched Seinfeld when it was on and only recently caught episodes. The humor of the show was 100% that these were awful, selfish, vulgar clowns. Sure, that's fine. Funny! But I think you're right. These characters are fools, but their characteristics are now... virtues? We are lousy folk!
