I have read Junky and I wrote about Kerouac last year -- it's somewhere on Humungus, LOL. As a young man, I was obsessed with the Beats but, yes, you know, they weren't great people. Flawed, at best. I'd say Junky is a pioneering work of drug culture writing and Burrough's pops up in the movie Drugstore Cowboy.
