I don't have a response to Michael's post. Not directly, at least. Why would I? He's entitled to his own opinion. I already wrote what I think of the movie. I didn't like 'Don't Look Up.' I didn't think it was funny. I didn't think it was ineffective political art. I thought it was smug and sanctimonious and sentimental but if you read my essay you'd know that. I stand by what I wrote 100%. So there's nothing else to write. I'm happy Micheal read my review and I'm happy he shared his thoughts and expertise. That's that, right? Also, he thinks I've "chosen the wrong team" and that I'm "morally repellent," so I don't think he's interested in a response from me anyway. He wrote an angry lecture full of invective aimed directly at me and I read every word. I don't know exactly what he was looking for but I hope he got it. And you liked the movie, Lui? Awesome. Again: I didn't. It's okay to dislike or like art. It's okay to really dislike or really like art. It's okay to comment on someone's essay and tell them you disliked their essay! Not that anyone needs my permission but I think its worth writing. Thank you for sharing why you liked the movie and thanks for reading.
