Hi Akos! Thanks for reading, as always. But I am SO going to disagree with you about Tony. The character never changes, years of therapy, peeling back his trauma and fucked up family, none of it forces him to fully atone and take responsibility for the wreckage he causes. He murders out of rage and greed and fear. He makes speeches about his family and murders his nephew. His nephew's wife. The people close to him all die, with the exception of Artie, who is the only truly moral person in that universe, and Paulie, a loser who will likely die alone. Tony is a simple man who gets what he deserves and his refusal to bend or improve or beg for mercy makes him tragic -- Macbeth realizes he was wrong when it's too late but he never apologizes. Neither does Tony.
The difference between him and Chrissy/Paulie, I think, is that Tony is smart and he could have seen the light if he wanted but he didn't want to.
