'Clockwork Orange' is a savage satire---like any true satire it is grotesque and not interested in laughter. But Alex is certainly victorious at the end of the movie: it's a happy ending for him, not society.
Jack was always doomed, but a lesser filmmaker may have decided to sacrifice Danny and his mom to make some kind of grand tragic point.
I could argue the person who truly changes in The Shining is Duvall, who has to learn the hard way that she should have divorced Jack Torrance years before, because the dude is an abusive alcoholic.
I know there's a The Shining sequel, but I like to think Danny and Mom ride off into the sunset, forever free from ghosts and abusive fathers.
Anyway, this is just an opinion. There are many. A muti-verse of movie opinions! Thanks for reading.
